A Making a ‘Song-Vessel’ Workshop

This workshop can be adapted to suit the individual needs of you or your organisation.

Brigid and Naomi have lead workshops in Scotland, for ‘Ceolas’ at Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum & Arts Centre on the Island of North Uist and at Off The Rails Arthouse, at Ladybank Station, in Fife.

‘Seeing the Songs’  During a session of song with a difference, participants learn new (old!) songs, share their own favourites, listen and talk about what is conjured in the mind by the song, when sung. Led by Scots & Gaelic singer Naomi Harvey, we have explored ballads and lullabies, love songs and laments – the whole of the human condition is borne by the stream of traditional song.

‘Making a Song-Vessel’ Create a ‘Song-Vessel’ sculpture during a follow-on art and making session. These sculptures bring to life the visual memories and imagery evoked by traditional song. Led by Brigid, participants experience the joy of making things, of handling materials by responding to their unique qualities and capabilities, to fashion a vessel in which to carry a chosen song…
